Tracking the Document Forger


An apparently medieval charter in the Diplomatic Apparatus (App. dipl. Meyer 2) has been identified as an 18th-century forgery. The document supposedly dates from 1266 but mentions a church in Pisa that was built only at a later time.(More information)




Papyrus fragment revealed to be a papal charter


Researchers at the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities have uncovered surprising findings regarding a fragment held within the collections of the Diplomatic Apparatus. They succeeded in identifying the two papyrus pieces mounted on textile fabric, bearing the signature App. dipl. 8 E, as part of a papal charter. (More information)
