Content:

Data and information form the basis of human decisions. In order for them to be used effectively, they must be available in the right form, at the right time, and in the right place. At the same time, it is crucial to understand the benefits of data. That is why everyone today needs a basic understanding of data, databases, and information technologies.

Learning targets:

After successful participation, students will be able to:

  • describe and classify the basic principles of digitization and digital transformation,
  • understand and explain the basic functioning of PCs and computer networks,
  • explain the basic features of file and database organization and discuss and classify them in the context of given problems,
  • describe application systems, particularly in a business context, and reflect on their characteristics in the context of given problems,
  • distinguish between and apply procedures for planning, implementing, and introducing application systems,
  • assess principles for managing information processing in companies,
  • confidently operate and appropriately use common software products (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, LLM-based applications such as ChatGPT).

The learning materials are provided via StudIP.

Please note that there are separate events in StudIP for lectures and practicals. Registration in StudIP will be possible from the end of September.
