The Future of Transatlantic Relations: Public Fireplace Chat

When: Wednesday, 22 April 2026 | 17:45 – 19:30 CET
Where: ZHG 003, University of Göttingen
Hosted By: EMJMD Euroculture, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen

About the Event
The transatlantic partnership has been a cornerstone of global stability and economic cooperation for decades. However, recent geopolitical shifts, domestic political realignments, and emerging global crises have fundamentally tested this alliance.
Join us for an intimate fireplace chat where our distinguished panel will unpack the complex dynamics of EU-North American ties. We will critically examine:

  • What Happened & What is Happening: The historical context and the current friction points straining the alliance.
  • Repairing the Damage: Is it possible to rebuild fractured trust? If yes, what are the actionable steps, and how long will the recovery take?
  • The Path Forward: If the damage is irreversible, what does the future hold? We will explore the new alliances, economic realignments, and diplomatic relationships that will emerge for both parties in a multipolar world.
