From the innovative idea to

practical implementation

The Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and the VolksWagen Foundation are funding seven projects at several universities with around 15 million euros from the joint zukunft.niedersachsen program. These projects pursue a common goal in various ways: to motivate and enable more students and researchers to start science and research-based spin-offs by imparting entrepreneurial know-how.

Lower Saxony's Science Minister Falko Mohrs: "Entrepreneurial spirit, start-up know-how, start-up spirit - they provide the necessary impetus so that innovative ideas from research can ultimately become technologies or services that improve our lives and advance our country. In order to put the full horsepower of our universities' innovative strength on the road, we are investing around 15 million euros in tailor-made support for founders: we want to encourage and enable our bright minds to use the university as a springboard to self-employment - so that talent, ideas and research results directly generate more economic value and practical solutions for social challenges."

The following project (University of Göttingen, University Medical Center Göttingen and HAWK) is being funded with 4.33 million euros: “Göttingen Campus Science Startups”

An entrepreneurship education program is to be established on campus that combines the life science, business management and entrepreneurship experience of the participating universities. Research projects are to be closely supported so that technology transfer becomes an integral part from the outset. To this end, innovation management will be strengthened and systematic scouting and monitoring will be established. In addition, a local business angel network is to be established.
