Alina Mulyukova, M.Sc.
Alina Mulyukova is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Chair of Development Economics (Prof. Andreas Fuchs) at Göttingen University. She is also a Research Fellow at Kiel Institute for the World Economy. Her research interests are at the intersection of development and international economics. She uses micro-data and applied econometric techniques to understand how international trade, FDI and industrial policies affect the performance of firms and workers in the Global South. Furthermore, she is interested in the political-economy side of investment flows, specifically how geopolitical considerations, state policies, and economic interests shape investment flows in the Global South. She is involved in the research project "Tapping innovative data sources to analyse the impact of authoritarian states on global development" funded by the Volkswagen Foundation.
Prior to joining the Chair, Alina was a researcher in the Trade Research Center at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. From September 2023 to March 2024 Alina was a visiting researcher at the University of Chicago, Department of Economics.
Alina holds a Master of Science Degree in Economics from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and a Bachelor Degree in Economics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
Alina’s research is published in leading field journals like the Journal of Development Economics and the European Economic Review.
