Pick-up Service for international students (currently not available)
Every semester, international students can sign up for our pick-up service. Buddies will pick you up from your arrival point, accompany you to your room or apartment and lend a helping hand in getting oriented around town. International students who have rented a room from the Studentenwerk Göttingen can also get the keys to their room from their pick-up buddy.
Since the buddies have often studied internationally themselves, they can empathize well with you and are familiar with the challenges often encountered when moving to a new country. They will do their best to make your start in Göttingen as easy as possible and will be available to answer any questions you may have.
The Pick-Up Buddy Service relies on the help and support of volunteer students. We are always looking for new buddies willing to help out newly arriving international students.
Have you already had the experience of arriving in a new country and can put yourself in the shoes of your fellow students? Or do you simply feel like helping new international students with their first orientation and settling in Göttingen? Then feel free to submit an informal application by e-mail, including your mobile phone number. The most important requirement to become a buddy is to be enrolled at the University of Göttingen. In addition, you should be on site during the peak arrival periods of March/April and September/October and have time to assist new arrivals. After you have been active as a buddy, we can issue you a certificate. Serving as a buddy can also be counted toward the International Certificate for students.
