Yes, you can already apply even if your final degree certificate is not yet available at the time of application. Please upload a current transcript of records or a provisional degree certificate under “degree certificate” in your online application.

You can also already apply if you haven't yet received your last semester transcript / marksheet. In this case, please upload the latest version available under “Transcript of Records” in your online application.

No, there is no minimum GPA.

The selection is based on a cumulative score of a) the grade of the bachelor's degree b) the result of the online aptitude test (Applied Comuter Science) / dMAT Data Science (Applied Data Science) and – if applicable – c) the result of the personal interview. Your overall score has to be among the best-ranked applicants in order to be admitted.

Yes, of course. In the course of evaluating your application, the Selection Committee will transfer your credits into ECTS.

We cannot offer you any eligibility check as the decision of admission is up to the Selection Committee. In general, it is possible to complete a second Master’s degree. However, this only applies if the degree programmes are not considered equivalent.
In evaluating your academic eligibility, both of your degree programmes can be considered.
In any case, please provide information on your Master's degree under "further degrees" in your online application.

Yes, this is possible. The selection procedures are completely independent of each other.

Online Aptitude Test - Applied Computer Science only

All information about the online aptitude test as well as the personal log in credentials will be sent to all applicants via email a few days after the application deadline of the Applied Computer Science M.Sc.

In order to keep it fair for all applicants, we do not provide any further information on the aptitude test than those available on our websites.

If you studied a subject-related field, you should be able to deal with the questions.

No, we do not provide any sample questions or sample tests.

The results of the online aptitude test are not published (neither on the test platform, nor in the online application portal).

If you are on the short-list for the programme, you will be invited for a personal interview. Upon completion of the selection procedure, all applicants will be informed about the result of their application.

After the maximum processing time of the test is over, the answers given are saved automatically by the system. Thus, individual confirmations will not be provided.

No. The previous online aptitude test is no longer part of the admission procedure from the Summer Semester 2027 onwards.

dMAT Data Science - Applied Data Science only

The dMAT (Digital Master Test) is a standardized academic aptitude test developed by g.a.s.t. e.V. to evaluate Master's degree applicants. The dMAT Data Science contains - next to the core module - a subject specific module evaluating competencies in Data Science. Please refer to the official dMAT website for more information.

In the selection procedure for the Applied Data Science M.Sc. at the University of Goettingen, the dMAT Data Science is considered as one selection criterion.

Taking the dMAT Data Science is not mandatory, but highly recommended for international students as it significantly increases your chances of admission by adding points to your ranking score.

A good test result can significantly enhance your chances of admission and strengthen your application profile. Applicants who do not take the test will still be considered in the selection procedure. However, in a highly competitive selection procedure as ours, submitting a good test result will definitively be an advantage.

In order to receive points for our selection ranking, you need at least 40 % of the achievable points (based on the total dMAT score).

Please note that there are currently two different contexts in which a dMAT may be relevant:

1) dMAT Data Science – University of Göttingen: This is the subject-specific dMAT that may contribute points to the selection procedure for the M.Sc. Applied Data Science at the University of Goettingen.

2) dMAT as part of the APS procedure for applicants from India: For applicants with certain Indian university degrees, a dMAT with the General Academic Module is required as part of the APS documentation for studying in Germany.

We cannot provide any information on the APS procedure, please refer to the Academic Evaluation Center directly.

No, this is not possible. For our application procedure, we only accept the dMAT with subject module in Data Science. The dMAT with the General Academic Module is not accepted. Please do NOT include this in your application

As the dMAT Data Science is administered by an external test provider, test dates are scheduled independently of our application deadlines. Prospective applicants should be aware that available test dates may fall several months before the application deadline for our programme. We therefore strongly recommend reviewing the test dates early on in order to plan your application timeline accordingly.

For details, please refer to the test provider (g.a.s.t.) directly.

Registration is administered by the test provider g.a.s.t.. Please follow their website for the registration process.
