Selection process MSc DNB

The selection procedure will apply from January 2026, subject to the final publication of the admission regulation. It is conducted differently for applicants from non-EU countries and EU, as described below.

  • Selection procedure for applicants with non-EU citizenship and non-EU Bachelor's degree

If the number of applicants who meet the admission requirements exceeds the available places, a ranking of eligible applicants is performed.

The rank is determined by means of a scoring system with a maximum of 100 points based on:

    1. Bachelor grade (max. 51 points)

Note: International grades will be converted to the German grading system.
A maximum score of 51 points is awarded for grades 1.0 to 1.2, and a minimum score of 12 points for grades 3.6 to 3.9. Grades of 4.0 or below receive no points.
    2. Online assessment test provided by the faculty (max. 16 points)

      • The test covers basic scientific knowledge required for the respective Master’s programme (can be from the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, informatics and mathematics).
      • Type of questions are multiple choice, ordering elements, identifying a location in an image, or similar.
      • You will be informed upon the process (time, duration) with the invitation-e-mail (s. admission requirements)

    3. Interview (max. 25 points)

    4. Additional skills (max. 8 points)

Points are given for evidence of extracurricular practical activities in a relevant field or a stay abroad of at least 8 weeks or sufficient knowledge of the German language.
